Blush & Bashful

"My colors are Blush & Bashful!". Every southern girl has a special place in her heart for Steel Magnolias and Shelby's iconic "color scheme". We just adore pink in all shades, but in order to insure your wedding doesn't look like, "it's been hosed down with pepto-bismol" {thanks M'Lynn!}, may we suggest a hint of black and brushed gold? It adds such a lovely level of sophistication to the B&B color scheme. We think Shelby would approve.

Cotton Picked

The artist husband asked his wife what she would paint if she could. "Cakes", she replied. So he did.

Miranda & Blake are getting married. You know...the country cuties? And they had antler centerpieces. Love!

The lace on this gown is just lovely! And the navy & yellow takes me back to my favorite day in July.

Valley of the Dolls

We have a big time crush on the 1960's. Not the hippies, mind you, but the big hair, black eyeliner, cigarette pants and flats Jackie Kennedy 60's. So when we saw the celebrity fashion spread in the new issue of Glamour, we were in love! Ms. Lopez looks exquisite and the entire shoot was so inspired, we decided to create a drawing board based on our favorite piece of camp from 1966, Valley of the Dolls! We read it every year and it always makes us want put on our fur shrug, highest heels and hit the town for some champagne {pink, please!}.

Summer Peach Shoot

When Leslie Kerrigan of leslie&b photography contacted us about styling her photoshoot, we were thrilled! They are such fun girls and great photographers, who wouldn't want to dream up ways to have a wedding and highlight the most delicious of summer fruits? Shot at Sunny Slope Farm in Gaffney, SC, we could not have asked for a more perfect day. Darling newlyweds Eleanor and Cameron were gracious enough to strike a pose in the afternoon heat of July and did so without even breaking a sweat. The best part? We all got to take home a bounty of sweet South Carolina peaches! Delicious!

Cotton Picked

Happy Friday! We have been busy, busy this week and love it! Fall is right around the corner and we find ourselves wondering where the year has gone. Time flies when you're having fun, right? Here's a wrap up of some of our favorites from the week. Enjoy and have a great weekend!

Oatmeal Lace

photo credit: our labor of love

We recently came aross this adorable designer and can't get enough! Named after a grandmother's prized cookie recipe, Oatmeal Lace carries custom clutches, pins and ring pillows to name a few. We think it would be so chic for bridesmaids to carry a clutch down the aisle in lieu of flowers. Along with all things wedding, Oatmeal Lace is also designing a line of Gameday clutches for all of you fancy football fans! We've already begged for a Garnet and Black version, but you can do the same for your team over on her blog. Since finding her, we've already been dreaming up our High Cotton clutch: burlap, vintage lace and a poppy and blue liner. Yes, please!

North by Northwest

I am longing for the cool, crisp days of fall; specifically, the autumn days of the Pacific Northwest. The trees are greener, the sky is bluer and the air is so fresh, it lulls me into an immediate slumber. This drawing board features cranberry, chartruse, marigold and turquoise and reminds me so much of my honeymoon to Vancouver Island, B.C. Just looking at it makes me want to crawl into a hammock with a good book and an Arnold Palmer and just relax. Sigh!

NOLA on my Mind

jose villa via style me pretty

I recently got an e-mail from Delta detailing all of their fabulous deals on airfare. Most exciting? A $59 flight from Atlanta to my most favorite city, New Orleans. From cocktails at the Carousel Bar to a Lucky Dog late-night, there is just something about the Crescent City and I can't stray for long. I've kept this darling honeymoon shoot in my back pocket for when I needed a pick me up. I adore their look and doesn't the groom look so debonaire? Just lovely! So, if you can't find me, I'm probably kicked back somewhere with a dozen oysters and an Abita! Laissez les bon temps rouler!

Cotton Picked

It's Friday the 13th and in honor of this most superstious of days, our Cotton Picked feature is a little more "Dark and Stormy Night" than usual. We're up early packing for a trip to the Windy City and very much looking forward to a little rest and relaxation {and perhaps a Chicago Dog}. Enjoy the rundown of our weekly favorites and Happy Friday!

Good friend and artist, Courtney J. Garrett has some updated work on her site.
She's kicking it Grey Gardens style in the Hamptons this week. We are supremely jealous!

Funky Vineyard Wedding

We love all weddings, but if we had to be honest, there is nothing better than throwing a good, old-fashioned party disguised as a wedding! Enter this lovely couple who exchanged vows in the delightful little town of Young Harris, Georgia {one of P's favorite places in the whole wide world!}. While not for everyone, we adore the crazy beautiful color scheme, hand drawn details {especially the custom corn-hole board...so fun!} and relaxed feel of these nuptials. Design and floral by the always amazing Joy Thigpen, stationery by Oh My Deer! and photography by Our Labor of Love. Enjoy the candy for your eye!

Bedouin

Vintage. Fabric. Flowers. Perfect for eclectic bride {or stylist...we covet this one for our desk!}, we're officially obsessed with these sweet bouquets from Bedouin! She uses vintage fabric found all over the world and the best part? The most expensive one listed is still under $50. We just adore a beautiful bargain, don't you?

Up & Away

Festive and fun, nothing says par-tay like a fistful of balloons! We absolutely adore them as decor for a casual soiree. Have a garland of them at the altar or let little members of the wedding party march a big balloon down the aisle as official balloon bearers {just make sure you have extras in case one pops or makes a break for it}. Send them as save-the-dates or create a colorful seating chart. And the grand finale? Fill some with confetti and have guests pop them as the bride and groom make their big, boisterous getaway!

Put a Ring on It

It's the most tangible {and let's face it, sparkliest} expression of your commitment, so why shouldn't it get top billing in your wedding photography? In days of yore, the rings would be photographed either nestled into the bride's bouquet or prominently displayed on the layered hands of the bride and groom. Thankfully, photographers and stylists have come up with some darling and very clever ways to shoot those little bands of gold {or platinum}. Enjoy the eye candy above!

Fried Chicken and Football

Football season is upon us! Only 29 more days until kick-off and we can't wait to smell the fresh cut grass of Williams-Brice stadium, hear the opening strains of 2001 and see our boys in Garnet & Black take the field for the first time of the season. Will this be the year? Who knows. What I do know is that I'll be drinking an icy cold beverage, eating fried chicken and tailgating at Seawell's! We gave a sneak peek of their football program ad, now here's the finished product. It was so fun styling and designing this ad and we were excited to do our small part to support South Carolina Athletics. Go Gamecocks!

Kiki La Ru

Kiki La Ru via design*sponge
Kiki La Ru combines two of our very favorite things in this whole wide world: cake and vintage fabric. This cake bunting is absolute perfection! It's like a ticker tape parade for your cake {and what cake doesn't deserve a parade?}. She has a few choices on her etsy page, but will design something just for you in your favorite color scheme. How about burlap and blue for HC's birthday in January? Yes, please!

Cotton Picked

Here's a story: we love all things literary! There's just something about cracking open a brand new {or old} book and letting the written word take over your imagination. We feel books are the perfect centerpiece or focal point of your event. Especially if you're the nose-in-a-book kind of gal. The End.
